Henry III of New Britannia was the fifteenth Monarch of New Britannia. Ascending to power after his father's death, Henry would, in memory of his father, launch the First Binding Crusade, targeted at the barbarian kingdoms that had been overtaking the recently converted Britannian Empire, which was in most regards a puppet of New Britannia during this period. The crusade ultimately led to great bloodshed in Ancientia, though it proved successful by its conclusion. The territories recovered for the Britannian Empire were, in a forced agreement, ceded alongside additional Britannian Territory to New Britannia directly (rather than simply being made holdings of the King of New Britannia ex officio), giving New Britannia the realm its first holdings on the continent that were not merely under their control as a result of unofficial occupation or personal unions held by its King. In mainland New Britannia, in Borealia, the fight continued to take full control of Laurentia and additional expansion continued to the west and south. By this point in time the population of New Britannia was more than the Britannian Empire's at its zenith and the King of New Britannia was, if hardly in extensive contact with the rest of the world, arguably the most powerful individual in all of Magnaorbis. Henry's reign would continue until 318 1ENB, when he would choke to death at a banquet. His throne would be left to his son, Henry IV.
